A BA Graduate of Journalism with a well-rounded mixture of digital, creative, print (regional newspapers), and multimedia experience. I have a sound grasp of online media and what it takes to make a solid internet news piece, be it visual, audio or otherwise.
I am considered as a self-starting, motivated individual who is not afraid to take on large, challenging projects and turn them into successful, and where appropriate, entertaining online mediums.
This has been gained through three years of multimedia and technical work with one of Scotland’s largest newspaper publishers and almost a decade of writing and reading online news.
On December 31st 2009 my interview with Susan Boyle was named as one of YouTube’s most memorable videos of 2009. I was one of the first to interview her on camera and to date the video has had over 5 million views.
In addition to being a journalist, I am also an award nominated creative writer and published poet.
My three current projects include Yorae: Creation and Apocalypse: Judgement of Man.
Yorae is a concept and super hero type character that I have been writing short stories about for years now, but it was only in 2007 that I decided to write his story. The concept I came up was a trilogy of books charting Yorae’s life, from his birth to his death.
These books would be called Yorae: Creation, Yorae: Existence and Yorae: Oblivion. Yorae: Creation was nominated for an award by Ziv Navoth, author of Nanotales in an online competiton on Bebo.
Apocalypse: Judgement of Man has so far garnered over 140 fans and this fan base is steadily growing every week.
“I KEEP six honest serving-men(They taught me all I knew);
Their names are What and Why and When
And How and Where and Who.”
Rudyard Kipling, Elephant’s Child (1909)
