Below is a selection of different articles I have written demonstrating my different news writing styles showcasing some of the major events I have covered as a journalist. (NB: I am still updating this section, please be patient).
JOHN Higgins will today (Wednesday, September 8 2010) find out the verdict of a tribunal looking at match-fixing allegations brought against him earlier this year.
A JOURNALIST investigating the News of the World video sting on Wishaw Wizard John Higgins has said the national newspaper “cut and pasted” sections of the film which “misrepresented events.”
WISHAW Wizard John Higgins stepped in at the last minute to save 20 youngsters from disappointment at a boys’ football club annual awards presentation.
THIS weekend a Wishaw pub singer became an overnight sensation – and is now being dubbed this year’s Susan Boyle.
WISHAW’S very own Janey Cutler set the world on fire with her stunning voice this week.
I covered this story extensively while I was working at Trinity Mirror’s regional Scottish title, the Wishaw Press. I investigated the expenses of the Wishaw Press’s two local MPs, Frank Roy and John Reid. The following is a series of articles from the coverage I produced.
AIRDRIE and Shotts MP John Reid claimed nearly £9000 for home refurbishments in his Parliamentary expenses and also submitted bills for a £600 LCD television, a bar tip and even a 48p toilet cleaner.
A £795 LCD television set, a £479.99 laptop, over £200 for a digital camera and £1574 for tax return preparations are some of the claims Frank Roy has made in the past five years as an MP for Motherwell and Wishaw.
LAST week the Wishaw Press published reports explaining what your MP had been spending taxpayers’ money on through their own expenses.
“WHAT compassion did he show my son when he stabbed him to death?” Those are the words of distraught Wishaw mother Mary Caven, who this week told of her “disgust” at how her son’s murderer was let out of prison on compassionate grounds to visit his dying gran.
ACCORDING to police statistics there’s an average of over 50 crimes a week relating to alcohol and drugs in Wishaw and Motherwell.
