Key accomplishments
- Creation of key, high-priority Press Releases that were featured on Nature, RDMag as well as international and national media outlets.
- Entrusted by senior leadership to interview and produce extended, written feature content on keynote speakers (VPs from CERN, Pixar, Google, Aramco, NCB, also Nobel Laureates), faculty and prominent visitors.
- Several successful media campaigns promoting University research as well as messaging and values (Winter Enrichment Program 2011, 2012/ KAUST Red Sea Expedition Expedition 2011 (featured on Nature.com /Academic Convocation and Academic Commencement 2011/2012 ). Traffic (Unique visitors/Pageviews) increased twenty percent above forecasted deliverables on average each time.
- Successful mentoring of Saudi nationals to write and edit English written features. Also provided training in interview and journalism techniques.
- Continual development of brand’s social media base and messaging (21,000 FB Likes and 4700 Twitter followers).
Responsibilities also include: creative copywriting, video editing, image editing, SEO analysis, news writing, content planning, content strategy, brand development, social media engagement, web content quality assurance.

Key accomplishments
- First journalist to interview Susan Boyle in 2009 on camera. Video was honored by YouTube in 2009 Most
- Memorable videos countdown.
- Created successful cross-platform (web, print) feature content, ‘Historic Lanarkshire’ series. This included online video and articles.
- Comic book blog (now inactive) named Mooneyverse, in which I blogged about Scottish comic book writers
- (interviewed Wanted/Kick Ass creator Mark Millar) and also provided reviews of super hero movies.
- successful redevelopment of Trinity Mirror’s Scottish digital branding (17 regional newspaper websites, 8 regional lifestyle websites and one national website). Responsible for consistency in messaging, content population, copywriting, image editing.
- creating, planning and initiating successful social media strategies for local newspapers. This included a establishing a presence on Facebook and Twitter. Website traffic increased 25 per cent as a result. No paid-for advertising was used. (Currently approx. 3000 FB likes, and nearly 2000 Twitter followers from the profiles I initiated and worked across).
- played a key role in the development of YouTube branded channels. This included testing, content population, cross-platform promotion (print/web). Across six channels, approx. 1000 subscribers were gained.
- establishing a Google News presence for regional newspapers. Traffic increased increased 25 per cent as a result.
